THE PROCESS

PROJECT SCOPE (1 DAY)

Contract Review: If the contract wasn't signed during the initial call, our technician will finalize it with you.

Detailed Documentation: The technician will use Docusketch, a specialized program, to create a precise sketch of your home by taking hundreds of pictures. They will also take detailed notes and, in some cases, collect product samples. This typically takes about 20 minutes per 1000 square feet.

  • Note: The technician may also sketch unaffected areas if you have continuous flooring.

Information Gathering: We will request any estimates from the dry-out or mitigation phase of your project. If you've worked with another restoration company, we can obtain this information from them directly.

ESTIMATING (2 DAYS)

Comprehensive Estimate: Our estimator will use the data collected during the project scope and information from the dry-out phase to create a detailed estimate using Xactimate, the industry-standard software also used by most insurance companies.

Estimate Review: The estimator will review the estimate with the scoping technician to ensure accuracy.

** Important Note: If you wish to begin your project before insurance approval, you can. However, a 50% payment to your certified contractor will be required upfront. If the project is completed before insurance approval, the remaining balance of the project estimate will be due. **

INSURANCE LIAISON (5-30 DAYS)

** Please note: This timeline can vary significantly depending on your insurance company. **

Submission to Adjuster: Our insurance liaison will send the estimate and collected data to your homeowner's insurance adjuster.

Daily Follow-Up: The liaison will work daily to secure estimate approval. You will be included in all email correspondence with insurance adjusters or third-party providers. If your insurance company is unresponsive, we may ask for your assistance in contacting them.

APPROVAL

Insurance Approval: Once the insurance company approves the estimate:

  • The insurance company will send you a check directly.
  • If "Restoration Contractor" is also listed on the check, we will endorse it for your deposit.

General Contractor Selection: You will receive a QR code and link to Restoration Contracting's approved General Contractor (GC) list. We will also call you to help guide you in selecting the best GC for your project based on factors like timeline, availability, job type, and location.

Payments Upon GC Selection: After you choose your GC:

  • You will pay Restoration Contracting's invoiced amount. (part of the estimate, not out of pocket)
  • You will pay 50% of the estimate to your selected General Contractor.

WORK IN PROGRESS

** Timeline varies based on project size and product availability **

Work Authorization: You will sign a work authorization agreement with your selected GC.

Product Selections: The GC will guide you through product selections and choices for your home.

Change Orders/Upgrades: Any change orders or upgrades will be handled directly through the GC.

Supplements: If additional supplements are needed, the GC will collaborate with "Restoration Contractor" to get them approved and ensure a check is sent to you.

COMPLETION

Job Walk and Satisfaction: You will conduct a final job walk with the GC. If you are satisfied with the project, you will sign a Certificate of Satisfaction (COS) with the GC.

Project Close-Out: The GC will send the COS to Restoration Contractors, who will then forward it to the insurance company to release any remaining funds (recoverable depreciation) and officially close out the project.

"I wasn't sure it would be worth it, but I'm so glad I did it!"

When I first heard about Restoration Contracting, I honestly hesitated.
